Surf Seasons

February to mid-June

From mid February to mid June the transition into wet  monsoon season begins along with the southern hemisphere storm activity starting to ramp up moving through Autumn  bringing increased winds and swell activity.

Clean Head High days are more frequent as well as the occasional bigger days coupled with clean off-shore wind conditions, best suited for Higher Intermediate - Advanced surfers.

Mid-June to Late August

From mid June to the end of August the wet monsoon season is in full swing as well as the southern hemisphere winter bringing large swells, strong winds, frequent rains and more stormy conditions.

With the southern atolls being more exposed to weather patterns surfing is still possible although more challenging this time of year.

September to Mid November

From September to mid November wet monsoon season is coming to an end and the southern hemisphere transitions into Spring meaning the winds start to settle down and the waves start to clean up.

This again creates the opportunity to score clean Head High days with the occasional bigger days still about and is best suited for Higher Intermediate - Advanced Surfers

Mid-November to Mid-February

From mid November until mid February it is the low surf season in the Maldives with the best place to score surf being down in the southern atolls with it being exposed to any swell activity. This time of year coincides with the dry monsoon season and southern hemisphere summer meaning swells are slower and less frequent with calmer winds and more steady weather patterns.

Waves are usually in the Chest High range with the occasional Head High days and a great time of year for Beginners - Intermediate surfers.
